I have been feeling frightfully fiendish, so I thought I would clue you in about a puzzle with another puzzle.
And so, the first clue for The Turkey Hunt is a crossword.
Why A Crossword?
If you think about it, a crossword is a perfect clue for a word search where no word bank is provided.
Why?
Because firstly, it tells you the word lengths. You can use that information to guide your fact-finding based on the original word search prompts (i.e., the crossword’s Across and Down prompts).
Secondly, you can verify the words using the crossword’s overlapping letters.
Thirdly, the word search further confirms the words are correct via findability (handy if one hasn’t solved the crossword fully).
Each format serves as verification for the other - if a word fits the crossword grid but can’t be found in the word search (or vice versa), it’s likely incorrect.
